Visit to the 17th Open and User Innovation Conference (OUI) in Utrecht

The 17th Open and User Innovation Conference (OUI) took place from 8 to 10 July 2019. The institute for Innovation Marketing was represented there with two lectures on the subject of diffusion of user innovations.

Parts of the University of Utrecht are located in the historic “Domkerk” St. Martin´s Cathedral. It lies directly in front of the Utrecht Cathedral Tower, the highest church tower in the Netherlands. On 23 January 1579, the Treaty on the Union of Utrecht was adopted in the current auditorium, where this year´s OUI was also opened. Thus, the Netherlands was created here.

In the background of the professor and the institute staff a whale sculpture made off 5 tons of plastic waste can be seen. This symbolizes the research of the University of Utrecht in the field of sustainable water management.

Catering was provided in the historic “Pandshof” of the cathedral. The courtyard has existed since 14th century and has hosted many generations of clergymen and scholars. Its centre is decorated with the statue of Hugo Wstinc, also called “the writing monk”. What better place for a scientific conference!

Like the monk, we also return our institute work with many great impressions and inspired by the numerous lectures.
