Crafting airplanes

Felix comes running

Welcome back!

Well then, let’s get to the bottom of this crooked airplane…

My plane doesn’t seem to want to fly properly. I think I need your support. Build the plane and let it fly. Observe carefully how your plane flies.

In the picture gallery, we’ll show you how to build the plane. The instructions are also available for printing.

I built the plane as described in the instructions using a wooden slat and impact foam for sound insulation. (The impact foam is used for laying laminate flooring and is available at hardware stores.) A little tip on the side: not all adhesive tapes stick to all materials. If it doesn’t stick, just try an adhesive tape from a different brand.

However, since not everyone has these materials, Pia, our student assistant, looked for other materials at home to build a plane. Three planes resulted from her search. She filmed the whole process for you, of course. Take a look at the video right away.

Here you can view, download, or print the template for Pia’s cardboard plane.

Task:

Build the plane at home before the next mission and let it fly.

What result do you get? Does it fly as badly as mine, or does it work better for you? Report your observations in the community and compare them with those of others.

!!! Please be careful when throwing so that no one can be hit !!! When experimenting, it is always very important to pay attention to safety.

Until the next mission!
