Project Thesis Process
A Project thesis has a more practical focus. In contrast to the scientific aspects, the focus should be much more on technical skills. Here are the central goals of a project thesis:
- Focus on practical relevance and application of knowledge
- Independence and project management during processing
- Solution-oriented thinking for problems
- Demonstrate research and development competence
We expect you to have all the basic knowledge required to complete your Project thesis. We also expect you to work independently on the project tasks assigned to you. The supervisor is not there to teach you missing basic knowledge, but discuss status and provide feedback.
1. Express your interest
- If one of our topics excites you, then write to us and tell us what particularly interests you about the topic and why you are the one for it!
- You might also send CV or other information that underline your suitability for the topic
2. Personal Meeting
- A short discussion on the topic.
- The topic is now reserved for you
3. Receive Task Description
- Directly after the meeting you will receive the clear task description.
- Task description must be fully understand
- Accept/decline the task description within 1 week!
- After acceptance, you have 3 months time for completion. No further extension will be granted!
4. Processing Time
- With clear task description we expect that you work independently.
- You can book max. 6 appointments with your supervisor (corresponds to a bi-weekly meeting)
- We expect that meetings with the supervisor are prepared and relevant results, updates are presented. The supervisor is not there to debug your code or fix other trivial stuff
5. Submission and Final Representation
- Project thesis must be submitted to a git repository
- The git repository must be documented extensively
- A short documentation of your project thesis (agreed with supervisor)
- In addition, a final presentation is also required. Not more than 4 weeks between submission and presentation

- When you write a project, bachelor's or master's thesis at the smart sensors group, you accept the guidelines mentioned here.
- The procedures and processes must be acknowledged and followed.
