General process of a thesis

For better orientation, the general procedure for a thesis will be outlined here. It is important to follow the steps and always adhere to the deadline. Note: Failure to meet the deadlines means that the thesis will not be completed or cannot be assessed.

1. Express your interest

• If one of our topics excites you and you would like to combine it with your final or project work, then write to us and tell us what particularly interests you about the topic and why you are the one for it!
• You might also send CV or other information that underline your suitability for the topic

2. Personal Meeting

• We decide together how the work can roughly look like.
• The topic is now reserved for you
• To get you into the topic and also to check your background knowledge, there might be a small task. This must be completed successfully within 2 weeks. Only with successful completion you will be guaranteed the work!

3. Exposé

• In the expose in general you define the goal of your work and all the steps that are needed to achieve this.
• Deadline for Exposé is 3 weeks! When this deadline is missed, we assign the topic to other students.
• When the expose is finished successfully the “real work" can begin!

4. Processing Time

• With the Expose, you can generally work on your task independently.
• Of course, your supervisor will be available to discuss any questions you may have.
• We expect that meetings with the supervisor are prepared and relevant results, updates are presented. The supervisor is not there to debug your own code, for example

5. Submission and Final Representation

• A written report/thesis is required for every work, on which the grade is based.
• In addition, a final presentation is also required.
• There should be no more than 4 weeks between submission and presentation
