Idee: Eine Ebene \(E\) ist im \(\mathbb{R}^3\) eindeutig festgelegt, wenn wir einen Punkt der Ebene \(E\) und einen zu \(E\) senkrechten Vektor (ungleich \(\mathbf{o}\)) kennen.
Definition 1. Jede Ebene \(E\) im \(\mathbb{R}^3\) lässt sich in der folgenden Form schreiben:
\[E=\left\{\mathbf{v}\in\mathbb{R}^3:\ \langle \mathbf{v}-\mathbf{p},\mathbf{n}\rangle = 0 \right\} = \left\{\mathbf{v}\in\mathbb{R}^3:\ \langle \mathbf{v},\mathbf{n}\rangle = \langle \mathbf{p},\mathbf{n}\rangle \right\}.\] Dabei repräsentiert \(\mathbf{p}\) einen beliebigen Punkt auf \(E\).
Der Vektor \(\mathbf{n}\neq \mathbf{o}\) ist ein Normalenvektor von \(E\), d.h. er ist orthogonal zu \(E\).
Diese Darstellung heißt Normalform.

Definition 2. Jede Ebene \(E\) im \(\mathbb{R}^3\) lässt sich in der Form
\[E=\left\{ \mathbf{x}={\scriptsize \begin{pmatrix} x_1\\x_2\\x_3 \end{pmatrix}}\in\mathbb{R}^3:~ a_1x_1+a_2x_2+a_3x_3=d \right\}\] darstellen, wobei \(a_1,a_2,a_3,d\in\mathbb{R}\). Die Darstellung heißt Koordinatenform.
Die Gleichung \(a_1x_1+a_2x_2+a_3x_3=d\) beschreibt, welche Bedingung ein Punkt \((x_1,x_2,x_3)\) erfüllen muss, damit dieser zur Ebene gehört.
Beispiel 3. Ist eine Ebene \(E\) in Normalform \(E=\left\{\mathbf{v}\in\mathbb{R}^3:\ \langle
\mathbf{v}-\mathbf{p},\mathbf{n}\rangle = 0 \right\}\) gegeben,
so lässt sich eine Koordinatengleichung wie folgt finden:
Setze \(\mathbf{v}=\begin{pmatrix}
x_1\\x_2\\x_3 \end{pmatrix}\)
und forme die Gleichung \(\langle \mathbf{v}-\mathbf{p},\mathbf{n}\rangle = 0\) in eine Gleichung der Form \(a_1x_1+a_2x_2+a_3x_3=d\) um.
Beispiel 4. Im \(\mathbb{R}^3\) gibt es genau eine Ebene \(E\), auf der die Punkte \(R:=(1,1,1)\), \(S:=(1,3,2)\) und \(T:=(-1,4,3)\) liegen.
Eine Parameterform von \(E\) ist:
\[\begin{aligned} E = \left\{\begin{pmatrix} 1\\1\\1 \end{pmatrix} + \lambda {\color{red}\begin{pmatrix} 0\\2\\1 \end{pmatrix}} + \mu {\color{red}\begin{pmatrix} -2\\3\\2 \end{pmatrix}}:\ \lambda,\mu\in\mathbb{R} \right\}. \end{aligned}\] Für eine Normalform von \(E\) benötigen wir wieder einen Stützvektor \(\mathbf{p}\) und einen Normalenvektor \(\mathbf{n}\).

\[E=\left\{ \mathbf{v}\in\mathbb{R}^3:\ \left\langle \mathbf{v} - \begin{pmatrix} 1\\1\\1 \end{pmatrix}, \begin{pmatrix} 1\\-2\\4 \end{pmatrix} \right\rangle = 0 \right\}~.\] Um eine Koordinatenform zu bestimmen, setzen wir \(\mathbf{v}=\begin{pmatrix} x_1\\x_2\\x_3 \end{pmatrix}\) in die Gleichung der Normalform ein:
